Shell of the Lapita
The Lapita artefacts were remnants of the first wave of People who inhabited the Pacific Islands over 5,000 years ago. Samoa was one of the main Islands from which the Lapita would populate the wider Pacific Region. Many of the ancient pottery and tools have been uncovered over the years and they show a culture that is both familiar but also very different than what came after.
This Lapita piece takes its inspiration from some of the pieces found. An inverted hook is unusual and may even seem to have not much practical use to the modern Pacific person. But its beauty and mystery cannot be denied.
The edges are carefully carved with Samoan Motifs and symbols.
Every shell is unique; no two shell surfaces will ever be exactly alike. Trochus shell and its gold colour go with any occasion and is a modern way to show your Pacific Love and identity.
